For the fourth year running the Team Limit Zero boys are pleased to announce we are back and ready to put our bodies on the line again in 2018!
In 2017 we took on the challenge of running the Queen Charlotte Track, during daylight hours, on the shortest day of the year. Whilst the scenery was beautiful, it was little consolation for the many physical and mental challenges we faced over the 71km journey, climbing over 4,500 total metres in the process! We had to dig as deep as we ever have over the 11 hour journey, but in the end it was all worth it, raising $11,714 for Save The Children from our very generous donors to support the fantastic work they do in East Africa. We have now raised nearly $30,000 over the last 3 years, and remain on track for our goal of raising $100,000 for deserving charities over a 10-year period.
As per usual, this year we are hoping to go bigger. We have again partnered with Save the Children NZ, a fantastic charity who are on the front-line battling massive humanitarian crises that affect children. These include the on-going child hunger crisis in Africa, and the Rohingya crisis where children are fleeing violence in Myanmar.
Since August 2017, approximately 671,000 Rohingya have crossed into Bangladesh. Save the Children are on the ground in Cox’s Bazar, providing vital services like drinking water, food, shelter and child protection services. There is an urgent need for more shelter, food, clean drinking water, hygiene and sanitation support as well as education for displaced children. If we reach our goal of $10,000, we will provide around 200 Rohingya children with the learning materials they need to continue learning while in a refugee camp.
This year we thought we would mix it up a bit and really put our team work to the test. As a result, the four of us will be lining up at the start-line of the Wellington Marathon on 1 July facing the prospect of completing 42km as a 5-legged-race with our ankles strapped together. This will no doubt provide plenty of entertainment for the spectators and provide a boarding pass to the hurt box for the boys.
We would love for you to support this great organisation by donating here. Each donation will be passed directly through the platform to Save the Children, and will be eligible for a 33.33% tax rebate.
Thanks for your continued support, and we will ensure to keep you up to date with our progress over the coming weeks as we prepare for yet another gargantuan challenge!
One team one dream!
